California Self-Determination Program

Explore the support
behind the possibility.

Understand the planning questions to discuss with your Regional Center before making commitments.

What is SDP?

California’s Self-Determination Program gives eligible Regional Center participants more control over planning services and supports through an individual budget.

If you are considering a service dog, discuss your goals, the proposed support, and any funding request with your planning team and Financial Management Services (FMS) provider. Blaine can talk with you about the breeding program and available documentation.

Plan with your Regional Center.

A puppy purchase or service-dog prospect is not automatically covered. Confirm eligibility, allowable expenses, and written approval with your Regional Center and FMS provider before spending.
